Position Overview
The CEO is responsible for driving the organization’s strategic vision, leading collaborative initiatives, and ensuring operational excellence to grow PEI’s food sector. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO will engage with PEIbased food and beverage businesses, government, industry partners, and the broader community to foster growth, innovation, and sustainability.
Key Priorities
1. Strategic Leadership & Accountability
- Advise and support the Board of Directors in strategic planning, governance, and oversight.
- Set, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with organizational goals.
- Oversee risk management, ensuring proactive identification and mitigation of financial, operational, and reputational risks.
2. Catalyze Growth
- Facilitate accelerated speed-to-market by identifying ecosystem gaps and enhancing industry efficiency.
- Enhance programming through continuous engagement, testing, and measurement to ensure high return on engagement.
- Develop and implement a lead generation strategy for food businesses.
3. Navigate the Future of Food
- Inspire innovation by scouting emerging trends and establishing global partnerships.
- Facilitate industry adoption by sharing knowledge, identifying barriers, and designing supportive solutions.
- Lead change initiatives and ensure organizational agility.
4. Amplify Our Global Voice
- Develop and execute comprehensive brand and marketing strategies to raise awareness of Food Island Partnership and Canada’s Food Island brand.
- Amplify marketing efforts for PEI food companies, the broader food ecosystem, and culinary tourism.
- Foster collaboration among industry partners and manage strategic brand assets (e.g., Fall Flavours Food & Drink Festival, Social Shell, Certified Island Beef, Canada’s Food Island Gift Card).
5. Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with government, industry, funders, and community partners.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the organization.
6. Talent & Culture
- Recruit, develop, and retain top talent; foster a positive, inclusive organizational culture.
- Oversee succession planning for key roles.
- Encourage ongoing professional development and industry engagement.
Core Responsibilities
- Execute strategic initiatives outlined in the 2024-2027 Strategic Plan.
- Oversee organizational governance, ensuring accountability, transparency, and operational excellence.
- Secure and manage resources to fund and execute strategic projects and programs.
- Advocate for and represent Food Island Partnership and PEI’s food industry in public forums, industry events, and stakeholder meetings.
- Continuously monitor industry trends and adapt strategies to ensure organizational responsiveness.

Qualifications
- Senior leadership experience, preferably in food and beverage or related economic development sectors.
- Demonstrated success in leading strategic initiatives with measurable outcomes.
- Exceptional skills in stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and relationship building.
- Proficient in organizational governance, financial oversight, and strategic resource management.
- Ability to anticipate industry shifts and proactively adapt strategies for sustained growth and relevance.
- Advanced degree or relevant professional certifications are assets.
